Route of the Chiefdoms

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TRAVEL
Day 1: Europe - Douala: Arrival
- Arrival at the Douala International Airport, welcome by the local team, then transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Douala - Dschang (about 290 km of road and highway): Discovery
- Breakfast, departure for Dschang via the Ekom-Nkam waterfalls which served as decoration in Film Tarzan of Greystoke.
- To get to Dschang we take the new road from Melon before entering the city of Dschang.
- We will have the opportunity to visit the craft center before going to the Climate Center of Dschang, an architectural jewel built in 1942 to house French officers.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Dschang - Bamenda - Bafut - Bamenda (approximately 74 km of road): Culture
- Breakfast
- Departure for Bamenda through the Foto chiefdom
- Continue to Bafou; stop to visit the tea plantation Djutitsa on the way:
- Continue to Bamenda; visit the town then go to hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Bamenda - Ndop (about 49 km of road and highway): Trekking
- Breakfast, departure for Ndop via Sabga where we stop for a walk at Sabga hills to get a magnificent view of the landscape. Continue on Babessing, the arrive in Ndop
- We will make a short detour to Diawara Ranch, where we will have the opportunity to visit this great ranch that employs several different nationalities; Then return to Babungo where we will stop:
- We will visit the beautiful chiefdom of Babungo where the chief (the 'Fon') has an excellent collection of art. (Chiefdom is called 'Chiefdom of 300 Masks').
- Continuation to Ndop where we spend the night in a hotel.
Day 5: Ndop - Kumbo (about 60 km of road): Nature and Discovery
- Breakfast, departure for Kumbo. We cross rice fields before arriving in Jakiri, then continue to Kumbo.
- Check-in at Kumbo; we will have the opportunity to visit the Nso chiefdom which is one of the oldest in the north-western province. We vill visit a traditional museum.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Kumbo - Oku - Kumbo (about 54 km of road): Nature and Discovery
- Breakfast, departure for Oku where you can taste the honey of the argricultural cooperative. This honey has the distinctive flavor of mountain flowers. This small village is on the second highest peak in Cameroon which is Mount Oku (3011 m).
- The inhabitants of this region support the project Mountain Forest, and African organization that promotes the preservation of the forest and wildlife (endagnered birds) of this mountain as well as the Touraco of Bannerman.
- We will visit the Museum of Oku, situated in the corner and the magnificent Lake Oku.
- Return to Kumbo where we will spend the night in a hotel.
Day 7: Kumbo - Foumban (about 80 km. Road): culture
- Breakfast, departure for Foumban.
- Check-in Foumban: We visit the palace of the sultan of Bamoun built by the 16th King Bamoun (Njoya): He invented in 1897, a writing, called shu-mum, which has allowed his people to communicate, a unique phenomenon in Black Africa. The shu-mum is now taught in schools and several Foumban linguists around the world come to study this unique writing. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Foumban - Nkongsamba (about 192 km of road): Leadership
- Breakfast, departure for Nkongsamba via Bandjoun Chiefdom that is certainly the most beautiful Bamiléké territory. Three centuries old, this chiefdom is one of the most important of Cameroon and has 200,000 members. At the center of the palace is a large meeting room for dignitaries with 23 meter high clings and a roof that rests on 60 pillars carved in wood,
- Continue to Bafang where we visit the Mouankeu Waterfalls then continue on Nkongsamba where we spend the night at the hotel.
Day 9: Nkongsamba - Douala - Kribi (331 km of highway): Discovery
- Breakfast, departure to Kribi via the flower plantation of the family Caplain Pendja (Families of expatriates who have developed a plantation of flowers filled several species of rare orchids which are sold on the international market). Continue to Douala where we will eat lunch.
- Cntinue to Kribi where we arrive late afternoon.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Kribi relaxation
- Breakfast, departure for the village of Pygmies (Cameroon's first inhabitants). We take a dugout canoe to this village.
- Return to Kribi and continue to the Lobé falls where tourists love to relax and enjoy the fresh shrimp.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 11: Kribi - Douala - Europe (approximately 196 km of road between Douala - Kribi): Return
- Breakfast, relax by the sea
- Go to the Kribi pier for lunch
- Continue to Douala, stop at the craft center to purchase final souvenirs, and then return to the Douala International Airport to catch your return flight.
END OF PROGRAM
